Uzbekistan Border Crossings

Uzbekistan borderline stretches for 6221 km and neighbors with such countries as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Uzbekistan has 12 border crossing points. Majority of Uzbekistan checkpoints work only during the daytime, some work only for pedestrians and you need to go to the highway checking point for crossing the border by car. Note: you need to submit the customs declaration form, while crossing Uzbekistan part. Although it is available at the checkpoints, filling it in advance will make your border crossing experience a bit easier.

We strongly advise you to arrive to the border crossing points of Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan no later than 16:30, although the border works till 18:00, as later arrival decreases your chances to cross them due to time required for border formalities and distance up to another country’s border.
The border crossing point on Turkmenistan side might close for lunch (not a usual case) that will add some hours to reach the neighbouring country.
